First batch of An-32s upgraded
The first batch of the An 32 aircraft had been sent to India from Ukraine after they accomplished the Indian Air Force’s order of upgrades at the facilities in Ukraine’s defence & industrial complex.
10 more of these An-32s will be shipped later this year. The first batch of An-32’s acceptance document had already been signed dated May 18, 2011. Their contract is for 103 of these air craft that is worth around $400 million for the Indian Air Force. The contract had been signed in July of 2009 between Spectechnoexprt and IAF. The Antonov Plant & Civil Aviation Plant 410 are the ones that are working to meet the contract’s requirements. The contract stated that 40 of these aircrafts would be modernized in the country of Ukraine and the rest in the BRD-1 aviation plant in Kanpur for the Indian Air Force. The upgrades of these aircraft should have around 25 of different modern equipment that are made in Ukraine and from other countries that will be increasing the flight safety of the aircraft. Its fuel consumption as well as the weight for the empty upgraded vessel will also be lower compared to its basic model. It will also be able to make a landing according to the ICAO Category 2.
The 3 year contract that was signed December of 2009 worth $110 million by OJSC Motor Sich and IAF, the AI-20 engines are also to be upgraded.
